Ducks lose Corey Perry for week-to-week basis

Weeks ago, Corey Perry called the Ducks everlasting run of injuries a little ridiculous and said laughter was one way to deal with the never-ending situation.

What else can you do? Perry said then as Rickard Rakell had to miss a few games. You cant sit there and sulk and complain about it.

Now the winger himself is part of their long list after being one of the few Ducks to escape injury.

The Ducks say Perry will be lost on an unspecified week-to-week basis due to a lower-body injury suffered Monday night against Carolina. It comes just as they got longtime teammate Ryan Getzlaf back into the lineup following a five-week absence.

Perry was leading the Ducks with 16 assists and 22 points. Ducks coach Randy Carlyle said the clubs top-line right wing will be evaluated again next week. He was injured in a collision with Carolina forward Jeff Skinner during the first period and gingerly skated off the ice with some assistance.

Obviously he was hit above the knee last night and injured himself, Carlyle said Tuesday. Hes walking around now fine. When you see him, its not like hes limping. Hes not on crutches or anything.

Hes in the weight room this morning. Thats a great sign. But to give you a more definitive time frame, probably in a week or so.

One forward who could move into Perrys top-line spot is Ondrej Kase, who took several turns alongside Getzlaf. Carlyle said Kase, who has six goals and five assists in 18 games, is an option but not the only one.
