Injuries have hit the Anaheim Ducks hard so far this season. They have yet to have a game in which all their top four defensemen have played, and their top two centers Ryan Getzlaf and Ryan Kesler wont be back until at least Christmas. Despite their injury issues, the Ducks have not performed badly. Their record is 8-7-3 with 19 points, which puts them only five points back of the Pacific Division-leading Los Angeles Kings.

The Ducks are in win now mode as a team. Last season they went six games in the Western Conference Final with the Nashville Predators, and they were predicted before this season started to be right back in the thick of the Cup chase. But they need reinforcements right now " not replacements for their injured players, as they will be back soon enough, but improvements at the forward position need to be made for this team to see success come the second half of the season.

Evander Kane of the Buffalo Sabres has been linked in rumors to the Ducks since late last season. The 26-year-old left-wing has spent his last two seasons with the Sabres, racking up 58 goals and 96 points in 153 games with Buffalo. Kane is a big presence with a great shot. He has two 20-goal seasons and one additional 30-goal season with only eight seasons in the NHL.

Kane would be the perfect replacement for Patrick Eaves on the left wing with Getzlaf. Eaves, unfortunately, will be out an uncertain amount of time with Guillain-Barre syndrome. Hopefully Eaves can make his return to hockey soon, but his production will need to be replaced on the team. Kane would replace that production and more. As seen so far this season when paired with Jack Eichel, Kane has considerable success with a big, playmaking center like Getzlaf. He loves to shoot and has his best success even strength, which is a serious bonus.
